Man Utd defender Dalot wanted by AC Milan in permanent deal

AC Milan are reportedly hoping to sign Man Utd loanee Diogo Dalot permanently after an impressive spell in Italy.

Dalot joined the Rossoneri in October in a bid to continue his development.

He’s made 17 appearances in all competitions, playing on either side of defence as a full back.

According to The Sun, Milan want to sign the 21-year-old in a £15 million deal plus add-ons this summer.

Manager Stefano Pioli has seen Dalot grow into a reliable first team player during his loan spell.

He can provide cover for talented full backs Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez.

The Portuguese international is a cheap option for Milan to improve their squad.

Their finances have been badly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, meaning they can’t spend big on new players.

He currently earns a meagre £40,000 a week which is far less than his teammates in the Italian capital.

Dalot has plenty of potential for the future, which is why Man Utd paid Porto £19 million for him in June 2018.

Milan are currently engaged in a title race with rivals Inter and the ever-present Juventus.

The club, led by talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, could win their first league title since the 2010/11 season.

They want to sign Dalot to continue their impressive resurgence.

The player has made 35 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.

They see him as a good option for the future, so it’s not yet clear whether they would be willing to sell.

When Dalot left for Milan earlier this season, he revealed he would be ‘rooting’ for the team whilst away.

That suggests he might want an Old Trafford return in the summer to fight for a first team place.

Milan travel to Bologna today in Serie A.

United, meanwhile, face Arsenal at 17:30 in a huge match in the Premier League.
