Man Utd Eye Frankfurt’s £67m Hitman Ekitike as Striker Woes Continue

Red Devils Desperate for Firepower as Hojlund & Zirkzee Struggle to Deliver

Manchester United are weighing up a big-money move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s in-form striker Hugo Ekitike, with reports suggesting the Bundesliga club have slapped a £67 million price tag on the French forward.

The Red Devils’ struggles in front of goal have been glaring this season, with summer signings Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managing just six Premier League goals between them. While both were seen as promising long-term investments, United’s lack of cutting edge has forced them to explore immediate reinforcements—and Ekitike has emerged as a prime target.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are ‘seriously considering’ a move for the 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a breakout season with 19 goals and eight assists across all competitions.

That output would make him United’s second-most productive player behind only Bruno Fernandes, highlighting just how badly Erik ten Hag’s side need a reliable finisher.

However, the Red Devils face stiff competition, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Juventus also reportedly monitoring Ekitike. While Arsenal’s primary focus remains Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s status as Premier League leaders could make them a more attractive destination than a United side still battling for consistency.

Frankfurt are aware of the growing interest, but whether United are willing to meet their hefty valuation—and convince Ekitike to choose Old Trafford over rival suitors—remains to be seen. One thing is certain: if Ten Hag wants to revive United’s faltering attack, he’ll need to act fast.
