Young Mali International to Join Red Devils as Erik ten Hag Continues Squad Reinforcement
Manchester United are poised to make their sixth signing of the summer as Sekou Kone is set to complete his move to Old Trafford next week, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 18-year-old Mali international, currently playing for Guidars FC, will join the Red Devils as part of the club’s long-term strategy.
Kone’s transfer will follow the expected arrival of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, with the Uruguayan midfielder set to join on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Ugarte’s move, reportedly in its final stages, will bolster Erik ten Hag’s midfield options as the Premier League giants aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
So far this summer, Manchester United have secured deals for Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, as the club’s board works to provide ten Hag with the resources needed for success. The addition of Ugarte and Kone will further enhance the squad as the Red Devils prepare for a challenging campaign.
Romano revealed that Kone’s transfer to Manchester United is fully agreed upon, with the player set to undergo a medical next week before signing the necessary documents. The deal is valued at £1 million, with additional performance-based add-ons.
“Kone was on the list of several clubs, but United have agreed on the deal today,” Romano wrote on X. “Considered a top talent, he’s part of the long-term plans, similar to Chido Obi Martin.”
This move highlights Manchester United’s commitment to investing in young talent, with Kone seen as a promising prospect for the future. As the transfer window draws to a close, the Red Devils are expected to continue their efforts to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.
