Man Utd’s Late Push for Alexander Isak Fails as Striker Insists on Liverpool Move

Newcastle Hold Firm on £150m Valuation as Liverpool Remain Front-Runners for Swedish Star

Manchester United made a last-ditch attempt to hijack Alexander Isak’s proposed move to Liverpool, only for the Newcastle striker to reject their advances outright, according to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.

Despite Liverpool’s initial £120 million bid being turned down by Newcastle, Isak has made it clear that Anfield is his only desired destination. The 25-year-old has even traveled to Spain to train at former club Real Sociedad’s facilities in an effort to push through a transfer.

Plettenberg revealed on social media that Isak’s camp remains confident a deal can still be struck before the window closes, with a long-term contract until 2031 already agreed in principle with Liverpool. However, Newcastle are holding out for at least £150 million—a figure that could test the Reds’ resolve.

Meanwhile, the Magpies appear to be preparing for life without their star forward, launching an €80 million bid for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško. Reports in Slovenia suggest the 21-year-old is leaning toward joining Eddie Howe’s side, though conflicting updates claim he has yet to make a final decision.

For Manchester United, the failed pursuit of Isak—and the potential loss of Šeško to a Premier League rival—leaves them scrambling for alternatives in a summer market that has grown increasingly complicated. With Liverpool still pushing to finalize Isak’s signing, the transfer saga could go down to the wire.
