Guardiola’s Side Bounces Back with a 3-0 Triumph at the Etihad
Manchester City brought an end to their seven-game winless run with a confident 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium. The much-needed win lifts Pep Guardiola’s team to fourth place in the Premier League standings, while Nottingham Forest slips to seventh.
De Bruyne Sparks City’s Revival
City took an early lead within the first ten minutes, thanks to the returning Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian maestro set up Bernardo Silva with a precise header across goal, allowing the Portuguese playmaker to slot in a simple tap-in. Despite City’s early dominance, missed chances from Josko Gvardiol kept the visitors in the game.
Forest nearly punished City’s wastefulness when Chris Wood intercepted a loose back pass, but the forward squandered a golden opportunity to equalize. Just moments later, De Bruyne made Forest pay for their missed chance with a trademark strike from inside the box, doubling City’s lead before halftime and calming the nerves at the Etihad.
Doku Seals the Deal
Forest began the second half brightly but failed to break through City’s disciplined defense. The hosts then sealed the game in the 57th minute with a stunning curling effort from Jeremy Doku, effectively ending any hopes of a Forest comeback.
City continued to press for a fourth goal as Forest faded in the closing stages, seemingly content to accept defeat.
Guardiola Eyes Momentum
Guardiola will be pleased with his team’s clean sheet and improved performance as they prepare to face Crystal Palace this weekend. “This was about regaining our rhythm and confidence,” Guardiola said post-match.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will need to regroup quickly as they remain in Manchester to take on United at Old Trafford.
City’s victory marks the end of their longest winless streak under Guardiola, signaling a potential turning point in their season.
