Egyptian Forward Set for Medical, Becomes City’s Third January Addition
Manchester City have finalized the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Egyptian forward is scheduled to undergo his medical on Tuesday before officially putting pen to paper on a deal with the reigning Premier League champions.
Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly reached a €75 million agreement with Frankfurt, with an additional €5 million in performance-based add-ons. Marmoush is set to sign a contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, earning an estimated €16-17 million annually.
The 25-year-old becomes City’s third major acquisition of the January transfer window, joining Abdoukodir Khusanov from Lens and Palmeiras prospect Victor Reis.
Marmoush: A Star on the Rise
Marmoush has been in sensational form this season, scoring 20 goals and providing 14 assists in just 26 appearances across all competitions. His stellar performances have positioned him as one of Europe’s top forwards, second only to Mohamed Salah in goal contributions this season.
At City, Marmoush is expected to adopt a versatile role akin to Julian Alvarez’s impact, further bolstering Guardiola’s attacking options.
Addressing Recent Struggles
City’s pursuit of Marmoush highlights their intent to strengthen after a recent dip in form. The club has been active in the January window, with total spending likely to exceed €120 million once deals for Victor Reis and Abdoukodir Khusanov are finalized.
The summer transfer period saw City spend relatively modestly, bringing in Savinho for €25 million and signing Ilkay Gündogan on a free transfer. The current window, however, reflects a clear ambition to rejuvenate the squad for the challenges ahead.
Future Plans
In addition to Marmoush, Manchester City are reportedly exploring further moves, including Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso and a central midfielder, as Guardiola seeks to solidify his squad before the window closes.
Marmoush’s arrival underscores City’s continued pursuit of excellence, with hopes high that the Egyptian international can make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
