Manchester United Aim to Hijack AC Milan’s Move for Bologna Striker Joshua Zirkzee

Red Devils in Advanced Talks to Secure Talented Forward

Manchester United are making significant strides to hijack AC Milan’s pursuit of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee. Their interest in the young forward is “advanced,” and there are promising reasons why United could succeed in this move.

United are keen to add a new centre-forward to support Rasmus Hojlund and offer a different dynamic to their attack. Joshua Zirkzee, 23, had an impressive season with Bologna, contributing 16 goals in Serie A and helping the team qualify for the Champions League.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Zirkzee offers a strong physical presence and is adept at dropping deep and linking up play. According to reliable sources, United are exploring a deal for Zirkzee, who has a €40m/£34m release clause.

Although United haven’t yet spoken directly with Bologna, they are in contact with Zirkzee’s representatives. Italian giants AC Milan have already reached an agreement on personal terms with Zirkzee and are prepared to activate his release clause. However, there are key reasons why Manchester United could still secure the striker.

Firstly, Zirkzee’s release clause doesn’t become active until July 1, giving United time to explore the move and potentially activate the clause simultaneously with Milan. Secondly, while Milan has agreed on personal terms, they haven’t finalized the agent’s commission. This aspect remains unresolved, leaving the door open for United to step in.

Despite the challenges, sources suggest that Manchester United stand a good chance of hijacking the deal. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported, “Concrete talks between Man Utd and Joshua Zirkzee’s agent have started. United are working on a total verbal agreement and have a good chance to hijack the deal.”

All eyes are now on whether United can match Milan’s terms and finalize the agent’s commission, bringing Joshua Zirkzee to Old Trafford for the upcoming season.
