Manchester United and PSG Locked in Battle for Victor Osimhen as Release Clause Agreed

Napoli striker’s £65m fee sparks transfer tug-of-war, with Galatasaray conceding defeat in race for Nigerian star

Manchester United have reportedly agreed to meet the £65 million release clause for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, setting the stage for a summer transfer battle with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Nigerian forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been a long-term target for top European clubs, and his stellar form this season has reignited interest from some of the continent’s biggest teams.

Osimhen, who has scored 17 goals in 23 games for Galatasaray, was previously linked with Chelsea and PSG last summer. According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu of Sports Digitale, both Manchester United and PSG have made verbal offers to Osimhen’s camp regarding salary and contract terms. “PSG and Manchester United made their verbal offer to the player’s side regarding the salary and contract period,” Sabuncuoglu revealed. “Because both clubs agreed to pay Napoli the release fee. It is very difficult for Galatasaray to compete with these two clubs. He is probably leaving at the end of the season.”

The news comes as a boost for United fans, who have endured a frustrating season marked by a lack of firepower up front. The January departures of Marcus Rashford and Antony on loan, coupled with the failure to sign a replacement, have left the Red Devils short-staffed in attack. To make matters worse, promising youngster Amad Diallo recently suffered an injury that will sideline him for an extended period.

Diallo took to social media to express his disappointment, writing: “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”

Osimhen’s potential arrival at Old Trafford would provide a much-needed boost to United’s attacking options. Known for his pace, physicality, and clinical finishing, the 24-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers. However, PSG’s involvement in the race could complicate matters, as the French giants look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

For now, Galatasaray appear resigned to losing Osimhen, with Sabuncuoglu noting that the striker is close to signing with a world-famous management company, further hinting at an imminent high-profile move.
