Manchester United Fans Shocked by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Message to Luke Shaw Ahead of Euro 2024 Final (Video)

“Please Don’t Pull Your Hamstring Again,” Says Ratcliffe

Manchester United fans were left in disbelief by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s message to Luke Shaw ahead of the Euro 2024 final.

On Sunday, England’s men’s team will face Spain in an attempt to secure their first major trophy since 1966. Despite a mixed performance throughout the tournament, Gareth Southgate’s team delivered a strong 2-1 win against the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

Southgate seems likely to keep the same starting line-up for the final, despite calls for Luke Shaw to start at left wing-back over Kieran Trippier. Shaw, who was included in the 26-man squad despite being sidelined by injury since February, made brief appearances in the quarter-final and semi-final, coming off the bench to replace Trippier, who has been dealing with his own injury issues.

Ahead of the final in Berlin, BBC Sport compiled a montage of good luck messages to Southgate and his squad from various celebrities. Among them was Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of Manchester United’s minority owners INEOS.

In the video, the 71-year-old Ratcliffe said, “All the very best of luck on Sunday, and I sincerely hope that you are successful.” However, it was his follow-up message that caught fans off guard: “Luke, please don’t pull your hamstring again.”

Can’t lie… every United fan was thinking it.” Another fan was less amused, commenting, “Jim Ratcliffe really is embarrassing isn’t he. One job, mate.” A third fan even went as far as to say, “This nearly makes me want a Spain win.”
