After a prolonged and intense transfer saga, Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag has finally acquired his desired player, Andre Onana, from Inter Milan. The Cameroon international, known for his modern goalkeeping skills and exceptional ball control, is set to replace David de Gea as the club’s No. 1 goalkeeper.
United had been eyeing Onana for some time, and the pursuit intensified following the confirmation of David de Gea’s departure from the club. The signing of Andre Onana is a significant boost for manager Erik ten Hag, who emphasizes playing out from the back, a style that aligns perfectly with the Cameroonian’s strengths as a ball-playing goalkeeper. Onana began his journey with Ajax at the age of 18 in 2015 and spent seven successful seasons with the Dutch club before moving to Inter Milan in 2022. His last game for Inter Milan was a defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League final, with Guardiola’s side securing a 1-0 victory. Now, Onana is eager to join Erik ten Hag’s United for pre-season training ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, which kicks off at home against Wolves on August 14th.
