Recruitment Chief’s Past Relationship Could Sway Leipzig Striker’s Decision
Manchester United may have a crucial edge in their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, thanks to the club’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell. According to The Mirror, Vivell played a pivotal role in bringing Sesko to Leipzig in 2023, and their long-standing connection could now work in United’s favor.
The 21-year-old Slovenian forward has been in impressive form since his move to the Bundesliga, netting 39 goals in 87 appearances. But beyond his on-field success, it’s his history with Vivell that could prove decisive in the transfer battle.
“Manchester United hope their director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, will be their secret weapon in the race to sign Sesko,” reports The Mirror. Vivell first scouted Sesko when the striker was just 16, securing his move from Slovenian side Domžale to Red Bull Salzburg before later orchestrating his switch to Leipzig.
This existing relationship could give United the upper hand, even as Newcastle United reportedly push to make Sesko their marquee signing. While the Magpies may offer him a starring role, the trust between player and recruiter might ultimately sway his decision.
As the transfer saga unfolds, United’s hopes rest not just on financial muscle, but on a personal connection that could bring one of Europe’s most promising strikers to Old Trafford.
