Manchester United Ready to Break Transfer Policy to Sign Free Agent Adrien Rabiot

Red Devils eye experienced midfielder as potential solution to midfield struggles, with Newcastle and Barcelona also interested

Manchester United are reportedly considering bending their transfer policy to sign French international Adrien Rabiot, who is currently a free agent. Rabiot, available outside the transfer window as he is not tied to any club, has been training alone throughout the summer and is attracting interest from top European teams.

Despite United’s focus on acquiring younger talents, reports from CaughtOffside suggest that the club is weighing whether to make an exception for the 28-year-old midfielder. Rabiot’s experience is seen as a potential “upgrade” to help address the struggles of Casemiro in United’s midfield. Additionally, with the failure to replace either Scott McTominay or Sofyan Amrabat, manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly short of options in central midfield.

Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique Rabiot, has reportedly been driving a hard bargain, which has so far stalled any deal. Newcastle United and Barcelona are also said to have expressed interest in the Frenchman.

France’s national coach Didier Deschamps commented on Rabiot’s club-less status, saying it was an “embarrassing situation” that had impacted his selection for the national squad during the current international window. Rabiot has 48 caps for France but will miss their upcoming match against Belgium.

As discussions continue, Manchester United must decide if Rabiot’s addition aligns with their long-term strategy, while the midfielder’s future remains uncertain.
