Midfielder Joins Red Devils Until 2029, With Option for Extension
Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte has officially signed with Manchester United on a contract lasting until June 2029, with an option to extend for an additional year. The 23-year-old midfielder, who joins from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), expressed his excitement about the move.
“It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world,” Ugarte said in a statement. “The project that the football leadership discussed with me is extremely exciting; Manchester United is an ambitious club, and I am an ambitious player.”
Ugarte enjoyed a successful 2022/23 season with PSG, winning both the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup. He also played every game at the Copa America for Uruguay, earning a place in the team of the tournament.
The 23-year-old, capped 22 times for Uruguay, previously played for Portuguese sides Famalicão and Sporting CP before his stint in France.
