Manchester United’s search for a new striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo is intensifying, with the club showing a clear preference for Atalanta’s young talent, Rasmus Hojlund. Despite the ongoing links to Tottenham’s Harry Kane, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicates that the Red Devils are keen on securing the services of the 20-year-old Danish forward.
Following Ronaldo’s departure in 2022 amid a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, Manchester United has been actively scouting potential replacements. Hojlund and Kane have emerged as the primary targets on their transfer list, overshadowing other players like Goncalo Ramos from Benfica and Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt, who have also been linked with the club.
However, securing Hojlund’s signature might not be an easy task for Manchester United. With the club facing financial constraints due to a stalled takeover and prior expenditures on Mason Mount and Andre Onana, raising funds for the transfer is proving to be a challenge. Despite this, the Red Devils remain in need of a striker and are determined to make a bid for the Danish talent.
Romano’s recent Twitter update revealed the club’s focus on Hojlund: “Manchester United remain focused on Rasmus Hojlund as new striker at this stage — despite recent stories around Harry Kane. Opening bid of Hojlund coming soon after personal terms are agreed.”
The urgency to act quickly stems from reports suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is also interested in Hojlund. The French club is eyeing him as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, should the latter be sold this summer.
With PSG in the mix, Manchester United faces tough competition for Hojlund’s signature. Time is of the essence, and the Red Devils will have to move swiftly if they want to secure the services of the promising young forward, who has been on their radar for several months.
As the transfer window continues, all eyes are on Manchester United and their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund, the player dubbed as the ‘next Erling Haaland,’ and the potential key to strengthening their attacking lineup for the upcoming season.
