Manchester United’s £100 Million Transfer Strategy: Sancho and Antony Set for Summer Exit

Red Devils Aim to Offload Surplus Stars with Eye on Saudi Arabia as John Murtough Initiates Talks

Manchester United has initiated an ambitious £100 million transfer plan, targeting the departure of both Jadon Sancho and Antony from Old Trafford. Sancho, who recently parted ways with manager Erik ten Hag, has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season, with no purchase option.

Antony, on the other hand, has faced criticism for his lackluster performances, failing to score in 22 appearances this season. Deemed surplus to requirements, Manchester United has reportedly proposed a comprehensive plan to offload the duo during the summer transfer window.

According to The Standard, both Sancho and Antony have been presented to clubs in Saudi Arabia, as Manchester United aims to recoup a portion of the £155 million spent on the players. The club is said to be seeking approximately £50 million for each player.

While Sancho had previously been linked with prestigious clubs like Barcelona and Juventus, the English winger opted for a loan deal with Borussia Dortmund earlier this month. Since joining Manchester United in 2021 for a staggering £73 million, Sancho has scored 12 goals in 82 games.

Sancho made only three appearances under Ten Hag this season before his return to Germany. Antony, a Brazilian forward acquired for £86 million in the summer of 2022, has faced uncertainty after being instructed by Ten Hag last week to ‘do better.’ The 23-year-old is yet to find the net this season, following eight goals in 44 games across all competitions in the previous season.

Manchester United’s Director of Football, John Murtough, reportedly engaged with officials from the Saudi Pro League and Saudi Ministry of Sport during the Club World Cup in December. The purpose of these talks was to establish connections with a view to selling players in the upcoming summer transfer window. As a result, Sancho and Antony could potentially find new homes in Saudi Arabia, aligning with Murtough’s strategic talks with Saudi officials.
