Max Air Flight Crash-Lands in Kano After Tire Burst

Passengers Evacuated Safely as Firefighters Prevent Disaster

A Max Air flight narrowly avoided catastrophe on Tuesday night when it crash-landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) following a front tire burst. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-300 with registration number 5N-MBD, was arriving from Lagos with 53 passengers and six crew members on board.

Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene as the tire exploded upon landing, sparking a fire and filling the cabin with smoke. One of the passengers, Aliyu Inuwa Mansir, recalled the tense moments:

“The front tire burst into flames upon landing, filling the cabin with smoke. We had to evacuate quickly through the emergency exit. Firefighters were already dousing the flames as we got out,” he said.

Fortunately, all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated. Max Air’s Kano Station Manager, Malam Bello Ramalan, confirmed the incident, stating that the airline is working closely with the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Aircraft and Equipment Department (AED) to determine the cause.

Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to prevent future occurrences.
