The French superstar single-handedly ends his team’s slump in a chaotic 4-3 victory over Olympiacos.
Kylian Mbappe delivered a stunning, one-man show on Wednesday, scoring all four goals for Real Madrid in a nail-biting 4-3 Champions League victory over Olympiacos. The French captain’s heroic performance snapped a three-match winless streak for the Spanish giants, providing a vital boost in a chaotic and hard-fought contest.
“It was very important to get back to winning ways,” a relieved Mbappe told Movistar after the match. “We know that three matches without that is a lot for us.”

The night started poorly for the visitors, who fell behind early after a fine strike from Olympiacos’s Chiquinho. But Mbappe quickly took center stage, erasing the deficit and then some with a breathtaking display of scoring.
He began his onslaught by racing onto a sublime pass from Vinicius Junior and slotting the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs. Just two minutes later, he nodded in a header from an Arda Guler cross. Completing a remarkable six-minute, 42-second hat-trick—the second fastest in Champions League history—he then coolly ran through on goal to score his third.
Even after substitute Mehdi Taremi brought Olympiacos back within a goal, Mbappe had the final say, tapping in his fourth of the night after more excellent work from Vinicius. The goals brought his tournament tally to nine, making him the clear leading scorer.
“I’m very happy, it’s always a pleasure to score goals,” Mbappe said. “My team-mates are giving me quality passes. I’m very lucky to play in this team.”
Despite a late goal from Ayoub El Kaabi setting up a tense finale, Madrid held on. For coach Xabi Alonso, the result was about more than just the points.
“The important thing today was to break up the dynamic we were coming from, and to get back that winning feeling,” Alonso stated. “We need everyone, and it’s clear that today Kylian stands out with the goals… that’s why the players were celebrating.”
The record 15-time European champions now sit fifth in the standings, having secured a crucial victory that was built almost entirely on the brilliance of their star forward.
