Former Arsenal Star Takes a Swipe at Tottenham’s Woes After Premier League Record Debacle
In a scathing commentary on Tottenham Hotspur’s recent woes, former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has labeled the North London club “Bottle Job FC” after their historic collapse, becoming the first side in Premier League history to fail to win five consecutive games despite taking an early 1-0 lead in each match.
The drama unfolded on a cold Thursday night in North London as Ange Postecoglou’s side, spearheaded by the returning Cristian Romero, took an early lead when the defender headed home Pedro Porro’s corner just 11 minutes into the game. However, the positive start quickly turned sour in the second half.
Jarrod Bowen capitalized on an error from Romero and Ben Davies to level the score. A defensive lapse from Destiny Udogie then gifted James Ward-Prowse a golden opportunity, with the England international making no mistake in securing all three points for David Moyes’ West Ham.
With this shocking defeat, West Ham now sits just three points behind Spurs, who previously held the top spot in the Premier League after 10 games. The historic nature of Tottenham’s collapse did not go unnoticed, and Mesut Ozil seized the opportunity to mock his North London rivals on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Who else should be able to break that record? 😬 Bottle Job FC is back 🫡 https://t.co/AX6q18lUHm

Responding to a tweet from @OptaJoe detailing Spurs’ record, Ozil re-posted the tweet and commented: “Who else should be able to break that record? Bottle Job FC is back.” Ozil’s jab comes a day after Tottenham’s disappointing result against West Ham.
It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Mesut Ozil announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 34 after a storied career that included spells at Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Fenerbahce. The former German midfielder expressed gratitude for his football journey in a heartfelt statement and hinted at staying connected with fans through his social media channels.
