Miss Universe Nigeria Chidimma Adetshina Addresses Identity Theft Allegations

Beauty Queen Defends Herself Amid South African Fraud Accusations

Chidimma Adetshina, the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, has spoken out for the first time regarding the serious allegations of identity theft involving her and her family, levied by the South African government. The accusations erupted after Adetshina, originally announced as a contestant in Miss South Africa, was accused of being at the center of a fraudulent identity scheme. The controversy led to her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant and subsequent participation in Miss Universe Nigeria.

Born in Soweto’s Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in 2001, Chidimma has a diverse heritage, with an Igbo father from Nigeria and a Mozambican mother, now a naturalized South African citizen. The South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) launched an investigation into her mother’s alleged involvement in fraud and identity theft, which cast a cloud over Adetshina’s pageant journey.

In an exclusive interview with Arise News, the 23-year-old fiercely denied any wrongdoing, asserting that she had no part in the identity theft claims.

“I did not steal anyone’s identity,” she said. “I’m just waiting for the conclusion of the case. Right now, I feel if I say something, and something else comes out tomorrow, it might contradict each other.”

Adetshina emphasized that while the legal proceedings unfold, she remains focused on her goals, stating that her decision to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria was about pursuing her dreams, not fleeing controversy.
