Liverpool Star Linked with Move to PSG as His Anfield Contract Nears Expiry

Mohamed Salah is reportedly in discussions to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a free transfer when his contract with Liverpool expires next summer. The 32-year-old forward, who has been a pivotal figure for the Reds since joining in 2017, recently revealed that he has not yet received a contract extension offer from the club, fueling growing speculation about his future.

Salah is expected to leave Liverpool after eight seasons, with the 2025 summer transfer window being the likely departure point. While several Saudi Pro League clubs and Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami have expressed interest in signing the Egyptian international, it appears that PSG is the frontrunner at the moment. According to French sports outlet L’Équipe, discussions between Salah’s camp and PSG are well underway.

The report suggests there is a “good chance” that Salah will make the move to the Parc des Princes in 2025, although PSG has denied rumors of being in advanced negotiations with the player. The French club, which has already missed out on several targets including Marcus Rashford and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the past transfer windows, is now focused on securing a new winger to strengthen their squad.

Salah’s potential arrival comes at a crucial time for PSG, as manager Luis Enrique seeks to replenish his attacking options following the departure of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid in July. While Bradley Barcola has impressed on the left flank since joining from Lyon, PSG is keen to further bolster their forward line.

The speculation surrounding Salah’s future intensified after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday, when he hinted that his time at Anfield might be coming to an end. “Honestly, it’s in my head,” Salah said to Sky Sports. “Until now this is the last [Manchester City] game I will play for Liverpool, so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible, so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully, we just win the league and we will see what will happen.”

Despite these hints of an exit, Salah’s form remains exceptional. He has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in just 20 appearances this season. However, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has dropped to €27.9 million due to his contract situation, with the player now in the final year of his current deal.

As the summer of 2025 approaches, it seems increasingly likely that Salah could be playing his final months at Liverpool, with Paris Saint-Germain emerging as a likely destination for the Egyptian star.
