Speculation Mounts as Reports Suggest Salah’s Departure from Anfield Could Materialize Next Summer
Amid ongoing speculation about Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’s future, a recent report has indicated that the Egyptian forward might still make a move to the Saudi Pro League, though not in the upcoming January transfer window.
Salah’s potential departure from Anfield gained traction during the summer transfer window when he was heavily linked with a move to Al Ittihad. Officials from the Saudi Pro League were reportedly eager to bring a player of Salah’s caliber to their division, launching a verbal bid of £150 million on the eve of the transfer deadline. Liverpool, however, rejected the offer.
The Athletic had previously reported that the league was contemplating a bid exceeding £200 million, but this did not materialize. According to the Daily Mirror, officials acknowledged the diminishing timeframe to secure Salah’s signature and opted to reassess the situation in January.
Liverpool’s position regarding Salah’s potential transfer reportedly hinges on their performance in the Premier League, with the club currently just one point behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games. The Telegraph suggests that while Salah may stay put during the January window, a move in the summer remains a possibility.
Despite the mounting speculation, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been tight-lipped about the situation. Earlier, when the Saudi Pro League’s initial bid was rejected in August, Klopp remarked, “It’s difficult to talk about media stories as there’s nothing to talk about from our point of view. Mo Salah is a Liverpool player. There’s nothing there. If there was something, the answer would be no [he’s not for sale]. My life philosophy is, I think about a problem when I have it. At the moment, there’s nothing. I said already if there is something, the answer would be no. Is Mo still committed? 100 per cent!”
As the transfer saga continues, Liverpool fans will be closely monitoring developments surrounding Salah’s future at Anfield.
