Mourinho Reignites Man Utd Feud: Claims Stolen Title & Questions Ratcliffe’s Leadership

“We Should Have Won the League” – Special One Revisits Old Grievances While Backing Amorim

Jose Mourinho has once again stirred the pot with explosive comments about his turbulent Manchester United tenure, claiming the club should have been awarded the Premier League title during his reign and taking subtle jabs at new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

In a candid interview with Canal 11, the now- Fenerbahçe boss revisited his 2016-2018 stint at Old Trafford, mixing pride in his achievements with lingering frustrations over the club’s direction.

“The Title Was Ours” – Mourinho’s Unresolved Grievance

The two-time Champions League winner doubled down on his long-held belief that Manchester City’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches should have cost them points—retroactively handing the title to his second-place 2017/18 United side.

“Manchester City was punished, and legally, we should have won the league,” Mourinho insisted. “But it wasn’t enough for me to have stability or continuity.”

Ratcliffe’s Inexperience Under Fire

The 61-year-old Portuguese tactician also questioned Ratcliffe’s football acumen, suggesting the INEOS billionaire’s background in “sport, not football” leaves United’s revival in doubt.

However, he offered support for under-fire manager Ruben Amorim, praising the club’s patience with him despite a disastrous season:
“What happened to Ruben, from being the manager of the worst Manchester United in Premier League history to having continuity… is a sign that a lot needs to change.”

Portugal Job Beckons

While still embroiled in past conflicts, Mourinho admitted he dreams of coaching Portugal’s national team one day—though he turned down opportunities in the past for being “too early” in his career.

“One day I will coach Portugal,” he declared. “All players dream of representing their country—so do I.”

With Mourinho’s Netflix documentary set to reveal more untold stories from his United reign, one thing is clear: The Special One hasn’t forgotten—or forgiven—Old Trafford’s chaos.
