Napoli Launch €55 Million Bid for Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez as Striker Eyes Serie A Move

Uruguayan forward agrees personal terms with Napoli but deal hinges on Liverpool’s demands, with Saudi interest rejected in favor of European stay.

Napoli have made a bold move to sign Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez, submitting a €55 million offer—€50 million upfront plus €5 million in bonuses—according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio. The Serie A giants are pushing hard to secure the Uruguayan, who has reportedly already agreed to a five-year contract worth €5-6 million per season until 2029.

Despite Napoli’s enthusiasm, Liverpool are expected to reject the initial bid as too low, given their initial €100 million investment in Núñez just two years ago. However, the Italian champions are not backing down, with manager Antonio Conte a strong admirer of the 24-year-old.

Núñez, who has struggled to consistently deliver at Anfield, appears ready for a fresh start. After being phased out of Liverpool’s starting lineup toward the end of last season—scoring just seven goals in 47 appearances—the forward has made it clear he wants the move to Napoli, even turning down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to stay in Europe.

A Deal with Complications

While personal terms are settled, negotiations between the clubs remain tricky. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano cautioned: “Darwin wants to go to Napoli, where the doors are open for him. But there has to be a financial agreement with Liverpool, and the transfer fee won’t be easy to resolve.”

Napoli are actively reshaping their attack, with Victor Osimhen set to depart and Romelu Lukaku already in the fold. Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca is a backup option, but Núñez remains their top target.

For Liverpool, cutting their losses on Núñez—who managed 40 goals in 143 games—could free up funds for new signings. For Napoli, securing a high-profile striker under Conte’s guidance could reignite their Serie A ambitions.

The coming weeks will determine whether the two clubs can bridge the financial gap—and whether Núñez gets the fresh start he’s seeking.
