Napoli Poised to Seal Hojlund Deal as Manchester United Era Nears End

The Italian club is confident of finalizing a loan move for the struggling striker within days, offering a fresh start after a difficult spell at Old Trafford.

Napoli are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United, with reports indicating an agreement could be finalized within the next 48 hours.

According to respected journalist Nicolo Schira, negotiations reached an advanced and “extremely positive” stage on Monday. The proposed deal would see the Danish striker join the Serie A side on an initial €5 million loan, with an option to make the move permanent for a total fee of €45 million. This report aligns with news from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who states the transfer is now in its ‘final stages.’

Further details from Romano and Alfredo Pedulla suggest the option to buy can transform into an obligation if certain performance-related conditions are met—a structure Manchester United are reportedly inclined to accept.

For Hojlund, a player who arrived at Old Trafford with great fanfare in a deal that could rise to €85 million from Atalanta, the move represents a chance to reboot his career. The 22-year-old endured a torrid time in England, failing to score a Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season and managing just four league goals in his difficult second campaign. Having fallen completely out of new manager Ruben Amorim’s plans, he has not featured this season.

Napoli’s urgent push for a striker was triggered by a long-term injury to primary target Romelu Lukaku. While AC Milan were initially considered favourites for Hojlund’s signature, Napoli have moved decisively to close the deal. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with Schira reporting Hojlund has already negotiated a contract with Napoli that would run until 2030, worth €5 million per year.
