Excitement is building as the release date for the highly anticipated collaboration between Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and the original hitmakers Aqua for the Barbie movie soundtrack has been confirmed. The trio took to social media on Saturday night (June 10) to announce that their song “Barbie World” will make its debut on June 23.
Minaj, known as the queen of the Barbz, teased her fans with the announcement, stating, “It’s BARBIE B!CH‼️‼️‼️ If you still in doubt.” Ice Spice joined in the excitement, captioning her post with “bad like da barbie.”
Aqua, the Danish-Norwegian dance-pop group behind the iconic original “Barbie Girl” song, is credited alongside Minaj and Ice Spice for this collaboration. Their achievement marked the first time in the list’s 34-year history that two co-billed women reached No. 1. The remix also climbed to No. 4 on the prestigious Hot 100 chart.
Directed by Greta Gerwig, the Barbie film is scheduled to premiere in theaters nationwide on July 21. Coinciding with the movie release, the full star-studded soundtrack will also be available on the same day.
Adding to the excitement, Minaj recently revealed that her first album in five years is on the horizon. Fans can eagerly anticipate its release, expected on October 20.
