Team Officials Insist “All is Good” as Super Eagles Focus on AFCON Quarterfinal Clash
The Nigeria Football Federation has moved swiftly to quell rumors of a serious rift within the Super Eagles camp following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.
Speculation erupted after television cameras captured striker Victor Osimhen appearing to have a heated exchange with forward Ademola Lookman late in Monday’s match, sparking concern among fans and media.
However, Team Administrator Dayo Enebi Achor firmly dismissed any notion of internal conflict on Tuesday evening. “There is no problem whatsoever in our camp,” Achor stated. “Whatever people saw as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later. All is good and we are presently at training.”
Achor also clarified reports regarding striker Akor Adams, who scored his first AFCON goal in the match. “He took permission to go and see his mother who was hospitalized here in Fès, and returned in less than an hour,” he explained, denying rumors that Adams had left the camp without authorization.
On the pitch, the partnership between Osimhen and Lookman was undeniably productive. Osimhen’s brace took his international tally to 34 goals, moving him within three of Rashidi Yekini’s all-time national record. Lookman contributed a goal and three assists, reinforcing his status as one of the tournament’s standout performers.
With the entire 26-player squad participating in Tuesday’s training session, the three-time champions now shift their focus to Saturday’s quarterfinal in Marrakech, where they will face the winner of the Algeria vs. DR Congo match.
For now, team officials are projecting a united front, eager to channel all energy into their pursuit of a fourth AFCON title.
