Nigerian Rapper Yung6ix Escapes Death in Los Angeles Robbery Attempt

The musician credits his survival to divine intervention and his mother’s prayers after a gunshot narrowly missed him.

Nigerian rapper Onome Onokohwomo, popularly known as Yung6ix, has shared a harrowing account of surviving a robbery attempt in Downtown Los Angeles. The incident, which occurred while the artist was inside his car, took a dramatic turn when the assailant fired a gunshot at the vehicle. Miraculously, the bullet missed Yung6ix, leaving him shaken but unharmed.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, the rapper expressed his gratitude to God and his mother’s prayers for sparing his life. “I just wanna thank God for working harder than Satan. They just tried to rob me in DTLA. F*ck my car up. Never been this shocked in a minute. I’m grateful. Mama’s prayers working,” he wrote.

Yung6ix continued, describing his disbelief at surviving the ordeal. “Na where the bullet pass we still dey find, cuz I was in the car. This is mind-boggling. I thought this guy was gonna kill me, bro. I swear on the blood of Jesus. God forbid, na so I for just go yesterday? God is definitely working overtime for me.”

The rapper hinted that he initially thought the attack might have been an assassination attempt, adding to the gravity of the situation.

A Troubled History with Robberies

This isn’t the first time Yung6ix has faced such misfortune in the United States. In May 2021, the rapper shared details of another robbery incident, during which thieves broke into his car and stole valuables worth thousands of dollars.

At the time, Yung6ix revealed that the stolen items included his laptop containing a new album and mixtape, $5,000 to $7,000 in cash, a Black Magic 6K camera, four iPhones, a PlayStation 5, and studio recording equipment. Sharing CCTV footage of the robbery on Instagram, he lamented, “My car got robbed. Had my whole life in that car.”

In another incident in October 2020, the rapper reported that his car was broken into, and the thieves made away with his customized teeth grills and Versace sunglasses.
