Manager calls for club-wide unity after admitting to a fractured relationship with the ownership.
In a heartfelt appeal for stability, Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has publicly called for everyone at the club to “come together” and “create harmony,” aiming to move past a summer of reported internal strife.
The Portuguese coach’s relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to have grown tense during the off-season, a situation reportedly fueled by Nuno’s dissatisfaction with the appointment of new global head of football, Edu.
Speaking after his team’s hard-fought 1-1 Premier League draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday, Nuno shifted the focus from personal conflicts to the collective good of the club. “Not only us three, all the club has to come together,” he stated, emphasizing that the immediate priority is to finalize the squad before the transfer window closes.
In a clear message aimed at mending fences, Nuno insisted that the future of Nottingham Forest must come before any individual. “What is important is the Forest, not the persons,” he told reporters.
Acknowledging the need for clear-the-air talks, the manager confirmed, “We must, we must… The players need it, the squad needs it, the club needs it, we need it. And we are going to have it.”
He admitted that navigating such public discord is a new challenge in his career, stating, “This is the first time in my career that I am facing this situation… It is not helpful.” However, he remained resolved in his approach, firmly believing that “conflict doesn’t work out.” His solution is a simple but powerful one: to build a unified front where “everybody wants the best for Forest.”
