Blues Ride Early Onslaught to Fourth Straight League Win Despite Second-Half Scare
Chelsea stormed to a 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at a rain-soaked Molineux on Saturday, propelled by a spectacular first-half hat-trick from Cole Palmer. The win marks the Blues’ fourth consecutive Premier League triumph under Liam Rosenior, keeping them firmly in touch with the European places.
In a whirlwind opening 45 minutes, Palmer—making his 100th start for the club—single-handedly dismantled the hosts. The breakthrough came in the 13th minute after Joao Pedro was bundled over in the box. Palmer stepped up and coolly dispatched the penalty past José Sá.

His second arrived just before halftime, again from the spot, after Yerson Mosquera needlessly pushed Pedro. Palmer sent Sá the wrong way to bring up his 50th Chelsea goal. He wasn’t done. Just three minutes later, he completed his historic hat-trick, finishing off a slick 16-pass move from close range after a cutback from Marc Cucurella, becoming the first player to score three first-half hat-tricks in Premier League history.
“It’s a special feeling, especially in these conditions,” Palmer said after the match. “The boys made it easy for me with the penalties and the great team move for the third.”
Wolves showed admirable resilience after the break. They pulled one back in the 55th minute when Tolu Arokodare pounced from a set-piece, setting up a tense finale. Chelsea, with Palmer withdrawn on the hour to manage his minutes, struggled to kill the game. Pedro Neto missed a glaring late header against his former club, sparing the visitors further nerves.
“The first half was excellent, but we made it harder for ourselves in the second,” admitted Rosenior. “We lost control a bit, but the character to see it out was important. Cole was brilliant, but it’s about the team.”
Chelsea held on through a nervy finish, and though the surrendered clean sheet will frustrate, the three points solidify their impressive recent form. For Wolves, the spirited comeback offered little consolation as their survival worries deepen, now just three points above the drop zone.
