Singer Hints at New Solo Project, Urges Fans for Patience
Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr P and one half of the famous music duo Psquare, has spoken out amid his ongoing feud with his twin brother, Paul Okoye. Peter, who has kept a low profile in recent months, addressed his fans through an Instagram post, sharing a photo of himself on stage and a message urging patience.
“Diamonds, they say, are forever. Dear Mr P’s fans, please be patient,” Peter wrote, hinting at the possibility of new solo music or an album in the works.
The feud between the Psquare brothers has been simmering for some time. In June of last year, controversial blogger Stella Dimokokorkus alleged that a dispute had erupted between the brothers and their elder sibling, Jude Okoye, over the alleged misappropriation of joint funds. According to her, an insider revealed that a company’s interest in acquiring Psquare’s music catalogue led to uncovering financial discrepancies. This situation reportedly involved the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with Jude Okoye being detained.
Last month, Instagram blogger Cutie Juls claimed that both Paul and Jude Okoye had been arrested by the commission. Paul later confirmed this on his Instagram page, celebrating his clearance by the EFCC and asserting his innocence. “I wasn’t a thief; I made my money through good music,” Paul stated, promising to release new music soon.
In a recent interview, Paul recounted how Peter had involved the EFCC, leading to his and Jude’s arrest in December 2023. Paul expressed relief at being declared innocent after a thorough investigation by the commission and confirmed that Peter was responsible for Jude’s arrest.
As the tension between the brothers continues, Peter’s message to his fans signals his focus on his solo career and a potential new music release, while the dynamics within the Psquare family remain complex and unresolved.
