Phyna Accuses Dangote of Breaking Medical Promise to Injured Sister

BBNaija winner says company pledged—then refused—to fly her sister abroad for critical care after a Dangote truck severed her leg

In a heart-wrenching public appeal, Big Brother Naija star Phyna has accused the Dangote Group of failing to honor a commitment to provide advanced medical care for her younger sister, Ruth, who lost a leg after being hit by a company truck.

The tragic incident occurred on August 13th near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, just six days after Ruth’s graduation. Phyna, whose real name is Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, shared emotional updates detailing a broken promise from the conglomerate. She revealed that after initially agreeing to fly Ruth to India for specialized treatment, company officials have now gone silent.

According to Phyna, the process stalled after Ruth was transferred to a hospital in Lagos. Despite promptly providing the detailed medical reports requested by Dangote representatives, she says the company backtracked, demanding further confirmation that Nigerian hospitals could not handle the case.

“My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle. Dangote must keep to their words,” Phyna pleaded in a lengthy Instagram post.

The reality TV star, who has been in ongoing talks with the company, expressed growing desperation, noting that the official she had been communicating with has ignored her messages for over 24 hours. She is now calling directly on billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote to personally intervene and help save her sister’s life, as her right leg remains at risk.
