Up to 12 players could be missing for Sunday’s game, with key doubts over Kylian Mbappé’s fitness.
Real Madrid’s preparations for a must-win LaLiga clash against Alavés this Sunday have been thrown into disarray by a mounting injury list. Manager Xabi Alonso could be without as many as 12 first-team players for the trip to Vitoria, casting major doubt over his side’s chances to close a four-point gap on league leaders Barcelona.
The biggest concern remains star forward Kylian Mbappé. Despite returning to light training on Friday, his participation is still in serious doubt. He missed Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Manchester City with knee discomfort suffered last weekend, and is also managing a broken finger.

While not officially ruled out, he has not trained with the group in days and would require a significant improvement to travel.
Mbappé is just one name on a lengthy injury report. The defensive line has been hit particularly hard, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, and Éder Militão all sidelined. To make matters worse, full-backs Álvaro Carreras and Fran García are suspended, leaving Alonso with no senior full-backs available. The club is expected to call up teenage academy player Víctor Valdepeñas to fill the gap.
The crisis deepens in midfield and defense, with Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, Antonio Rüdiger, and Dean Huijsen also listed as doubtful. This leaves Alonso with severely limited options as pressure mounts following a run of just one win in Madrid’s last five league games.
Sunday’s match now represents a critical test for Alonso and a depleted squad, with their title hopes potentially on the line.
