Real Madrid Set to Break Transfer Record for Arsenal’s William Saliba

Spanish Giants Target France International Defender with €100 Million Bid

Real Madrid is reportedly setting its sights on Arsenal’s William Saliba as the club looks to bolster its injury-stricken defense. The 23-year-old French center-back has become a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad, but his performances have not gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite.

According to reports from Sport, Real Madrid is prepared to break transfer records to secure Saliba’s signature. The Spanish side is grappling with a defensive crisis, with key players like David Alaba yet to feature this season and Eder Militao sidelined by recurring injuries. Following the departure of Nacho Fernandez last summer, the club is in dire need of reinforcements at the back.

Despite Arsenal’s reluctance to part ways with Saliba, Sport suggests that the right offer—potentially exceeding €100 million—could pave the way for a deal. This figure would shatter the current world record transfer fee for a defender.

Arsenal reportedly turned down a €95 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for Saliba during the summer transfer window, underscoring the player’s value to the North London side. However, Real Madrid may have an ace up its sleeve: Kylian Mbappé. Saliba shares a bond with the forward, as both grew up in the Parisian suburb of Bondy, and Mbappé’s presence at the Santiago Bernabéu could be a compelling factor for the Arsenal star.

Antonio Rüdiger, one of Real Madrid’s current defensive stalwarts, has also thrown his support behind a potential move for Saliba. When asked which center-back he’d like to see join the team, Rüdiger responded, “I’d say William Saliba.”

Saliba, valued at an estimated €79.5 million and considered the most valuable defender in the world, would be a significant addition to Real Madrid’s squad. As Los Blancos prepare for what could be a record-breaking bid, Arsenal faces a tough decision on the future of one of their brightest stars.
