The “Calm Down” Star Talks About His Journey and First Big Paycheck

Nigerian artist Rema has sparked conversation across social media after claiming in a recent interview that he belongs in the ranks of Nigeria’s “Big Three” artists, alongside music heavyweights Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid. The statement, made during his appearance on The Breakfast Club, has stirred debate within the music industry.

In another segment of the interview, Rema opened up about how he felt after earning his first fifty million naira. Instead of splurging on himself, the rising star chose to buy his mother a car and donate musical instruments to a church.

“When I made my first 50 million, I wasn’t stressed. I got my mum a car and bought instruments for the church,” Rema said.

The singer also reflected on the challenges he faced growing up, including the loss of his father and older brother, which shaped his journey to stardom.
