Striker Excluded from Napoli Squad Following Unsuccessful Transfers to Chelsea and PSG
Victor Osimhen’s anticipated departure from Napoli during the summer transfer window has ended in disappointment, leaving the Nigerian striker in a precarious position. Despite strong links to a move to Chelsea, negotiations fell through on Deadline Day, with reports suggesting a significant gap in personal terms between the two parties—allegedly as much as €100,000 per week.
Osimhen was reportedly offered a salary of €6 million per year by Chelsea, a considerable reduction from his current €11 million earnings at Napoli. In a last-ditch effort, Osimhen’s camp attempted to secure a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where he had previously agreed to terms worth €12 million per year. However, PSG ultimately backed out due to Napoli’s steep asking price, despite indications that the Italian club was willing to lower it slightly.
The situation has worsened for Osimhen as reports from Gazzetta confirm that he has been frozen out of Napoli’s Serie A squad for the upcoming season. In a further blow, Romelu Lukaku, who recently joined Napoli from Chelsea, has taken over Osimhen’s No. 9 jersey.
A potential move to the Saudi Pro League now appears unlikely. Al-Ahli, who had previously shown interest in Osimhen, opted to sign Ivan Toney instead after Napoli rejected their €65 million offer. Although there remains a slim chance of Osimhen joining another team in the Saudi league, sources suggest it is improbable.
With no viable options on the table, Osimhen finds himself in a difficult situation, with Gazzetta describing him as being “treated like waste paper” and his chances of escaping Napoli now “difficult to imagine.” The tension surrounding his future at the club continues to escalate, leaving the once-coveted striker in a state of uncertainty.
