Georgina Rodriguez, the girlfriend of Cristiano Ronaldo, has apparently flouted Saudi Arabian laws in her recent Instagram post. Ronaldo and Rodriguez moved to the Middle East following Ronaldo’s transfer to the Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in December 2022. Despite laws prohibiting ‘cohabitation without a marriage contract’, Saudi authorities turned a blind eye to their living arrangements. Similarly, cultural exceptions have already been made for the football icon, who is being paid a staggering £177 million to play in Saudi Arabia.
Rodriguez posted a picture in a bikini by the poolside, which violated strict Saudi laws that prohibit ‘over-exposed/semi-nude’ images and clothing that is ‘skinny, see-through, and has necklines on show’ on social media. However, her post, which featured a location tag of ‘Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’, seemed to have been overlooked by Saudi authorities and received over five million ‘likes’.

Ronaldo recently faced deportation calls over an alleged obscene gesture during an Al Nassr game in Saudi Arabia. After a defeat to Al Hilal last month, Ronaldo appeared to grab his crotch while leaving the pitch, which, if intentional, is considered illegal in Saudi Arabia.
Lawyer Nouf bin Ahmed filed a complaint with the Saudi Prosecutor’s Office, accusing Ronaldo of committing “a crime of public indecency” and “public dishonour,” which could result in arrest and deportation if committed by a foreigner. However, the incident was dismissed after Al Nassr clarified that Ronaldo was suffering from a groin injury.
