Ruben Amorim’s candid remarks about Manchester United’s dismal form have sparked controversy, with critics suggesting the Portuguese manager’s comments are “becoming embarrassing.” Following yet another Premier League defeat—this time a 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford—Amorim described his squad as “maybe the worst team in the history of Manchester United.”

“I’m not so sure I’d be very happy if my manager came out and said I was part of the worst Manchester United team in history,” Dawson said. “I understand what he’s trying to do, but this is becoming embarrassing.
“If you’re part of that dressing room… it’s already a tough time, and hearing that won’t help. The cracks are showing, and while Amorim knew the job was big, I don’t think he anticipated it being this challenging.”

Sunday’s defeat leaves United a staggering 12 points off the top four and only 10 points clear of the relegation zone—a far cry from the expectations set when Amorim took charge in November. The manager’s new system has struggled to take hold, with individual and collective performances falling well below par.
Amorim has not shied away from addressing the team’s shortcomings. “Everybody here is underperforming,” he admitted. “No matter the circumstances, we are underperforming, and we have to accept it. It is unacceptable to lose so many games… for any club in the Premier League, let alone Manchester United.”
