Ryan Taylor Opens Up on Split from DJ Cuppy, Cites Lessons Learned

The British BMX rider reveals the personal and professional tensions that ended his high-profile engagement to the Nigerian billionaire heiress.

In a candid new interview, British YouTuber Ryan Taylor is sharing his side of the story about his whirlwind engagement to Nigerian DJ and billionaire heiress Florence “DJ Cuppy” Otedola, which captivated fans and then fizzled out just months later.

Speaking on the Ladders Podcast, the 32-year-old content creator reflected on the brief relationship that began with a proposal after less than a month of dating in December 2022. Taylor revealed that a growing distance formed between them due to unresolved issues, one of which was a significant difference in their professional outlooks.

He pointed specifically to Cuppy’s alleged reluctance to collaborate with Nigerians in her business dealings as a key point of tension. “Is it weird that I told you she didn’t like Nigerians?” Taylor stated on the podcast. “She came into my business and didn’t even want Nigerian staff.”

Despite the high-profile nature of their relationship, Taylor emphasized that he walked away with no financial ties or legal gag orders, only personal growth. “To be honest, what I got from that was lessons,” he shared. “Everything that happens, happens for a reason. But do I regret it? No. Lesson learned. Next!”

He added philosophically, “I learned that money is not everything, but not having it is.”

The couple’s engagement made headlines after they met at the Gumball 3000 rally, but by mid-2023, fans noticed the tell-tale sign of a modern breakup: they had unfollowed each other on Instagram, confirming widespread speculation that their fairy-tale romance had come to an end.
