Salah Faces Calls for Public Apology After Outburst Rocks Liverpool

Teammate Reveals Private Regret as Pundits Demand Forward Address “Chaos” He Caused

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is under growing pressure to issue a public apology for his explosive comments earlier this month, which accused the club of throwing him “under the bus” and revealed a fractured relationship with manager Arne Slot.

The Egyptian icon’s frustrations boiled over after he was left on the bench for a third consecutive Premier League match, a 3-3 draw with Leeds. In a tense post-match interview, Salah suggested someone at the club wanted him out and declared his connection with Slot broken.

The fallout was immediate. Slot omitted Salah entirely from the squad for a Champions League win over Inter Milan, though the 31-year-old later returned to the bench and provided an assist in a victory against Brighton.

While the situation appears to have cooled within the dressing room, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has insisted the responsibility to mend fences publicly lies with Salah himself.

“I personally would have liked Mohamed Salah to come out and apologize rather than someone coming out and saying he had done so,” Onuoha said on Football Focus. “He came out and made the comments he did… so he is capable of coming out and saying something else to apologize for what that brought to the club.”

That “someone” is Liverpool defender Curtis Jones, who revealed Salah had apologized privately to the squad. Speaking to Sky Sports, Jones framed the incident as a product of elite desire, not division.

“Mo apologized to us and was like, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologize,’” Jones said. “He was the exact same Mo; he had a big smile on his face… I guess it’s just part of wanting to be a winner. If a lad’s fine to just be on the bench and doesn’t want to play and help the team, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

Jones acknowledged the anger “might not have come out in the right way” but stressed it came “from a good place.” He added that the squad has moved on, saying, “We’re past that now, and we’re gelling well as a team.”

For now, the storm within the club seems to have settled. But with external calls for a public reckoning growing louder, all eyes remain on Salah to see if he will address the controversy beyond the confines of the locker room.
