Salah’s Fate Sealed: Saudi Move Now A Matter of Time After Liverpool Outburst

Senior Saudi Pro League figure says there are “no doubts” Egyptian will join, with clubs exploring a January deal after explosive “no relationship” claim about manager Arne Slot.

Mohamed Salah’s storied Liverpool career appears to be on a swift and irreversible path to conclusion, with a senior Saudi Pro League source declaring a move is only “a matter of time” following the forward’s stunning public outburst.

The 33-year-old star ignited a firestorm after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds United on Saturday, telling reporters he felt “thrown under the bus” by the club after being benched for a third consecutive match. He revealed he has “no relationship” with manager Arne Slot and hinted he would “say goodbye to the fans” at the next home game.

According to a report in The Telegraph, this dramatic shift has accelerated plans in Saudi Arabia. “There are ‘no doubts’ that Mohamed Salah will play in the Saudi Pro League,” a senior figure within the league stated. The report names Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad—which saw a £150 million bid for Salah rejected last year—as the most likely destinations.

While a summer transfer was previously considered probable, Salah’s public frustration has prompted the Saudi Pro League to immediately explore the feasibility of a January move. The league is now assessing whether Salah’s comments signal a genuine desire to leave or were merely a venting of short-term anger.

“The SPL was not expecting Salah to make such a public statement of his discontent at Liverpool,” the report notes.

Any deal would require a colossal fee, given Salah signed a new contract just last summer. However, relations between the player’s camp and Saudi officials, particularly with Al-Ittihad, are said to have remained positive, paving a potential exit route for an Anfield legend whose relationship with the club now seems irreparably fractured.
