A cryptic social media post from a powerful Saudi Arabian official has sent Manchester United fans into a frenzy of speculation, following the club’s stunning 3-2 victory over league leaders Arsenal.
Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, posted an image of United’s crest on Sunday night adorned with fire and heart emojis.
The simple gesture, coming just hours after a last-minute winner from Matheus Cunha sealed a massive win for interim boss Michael Carrick, was all it took to ignite the hopes of supporters desperate for a change in the club’s ownership.
Fans immediately flooded the comments with pleas. “Any chances of buying @ManUtd Turki?????” asked one, while another urged, “Buy us.. sponsor us.. buy into the new stadium… anything.” A third fan directly linked the post to longstanding ownership concerns, writing, “Brother, I’m glad that we won, but the ownership is still United’s biggest problem.”
