Scorching US Heat Tests Club World Cup Teams as Guardiola Warns Fans to Stay Hydrated

Manchester City boss urges supporters to prepare for sweltering conditions ahead of Juventus clash, hinting at similar challenges for 2026 World Cup

The intense summer heat in the United States is proving to be an unexpected opponent for teams competing in the Club World Cup, with players and fans alike struggling to cope with soaring temperatures. U.S. authorities have even issued extreme heat warnings, advising the public to limit time outdoors—raising concerns over player safety and fan comfort during matches.

Ahead of Manchester City’s highly anticipated clash against Juventus on Thursday, manager Pep Guardiola addressed the challenging conditions, admitting that teams will simply have to adapt. “The heat is obvious. We can’t change that, right?” Guardiola said with a wry smile during his pre-match press conference. “But we played in similar conditions in Atlanta, and the stadium was fantastic. Everyone will have to deal with it—it is what it is.”

The City boss also pointed to the 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, suggesting that teams and supporters should brace for more extreme weather. “People will already know what to expect by then, but yes—we all have to be ready to suffer a little,” he added.

Guardiola didn’t just focus on his players, however. He also had a message for fans heading to the match: come prepared. “I hope we put on a great show and that the stadium is full,” he said. “But my advice? Bring lots of water, wear a hat, maybe even a cooling towel for your neck. It’s going to be tough out there.”

With temperatures showing no signs of relenting, both teams and supporters will need to take Guardiola’s warnings seriously—or risk wilting under the American summer sun.
