Real Madrid Legend Eyes Argentine Adventure Alongside Rojo, Medel, and Cavani
Spanish media reports suggest Sergio Ramos, currently a free agent, could soon be heading to Boca Juniors, where he would join former rivals Marcos Rojo, Gary Medel, and Edinson Cavani. The 38-year-old defender, who left Sevilla after the summer without extending his contract, has reportedly been in touch with Boca’s president, Juan Roman Riquelme, about the move.
Ramos returned to Sevilla in 2023 on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, where he played 37 games, impressively scoring seven goals and providing one assist. Despite his strong showing, Ramos opted to part ways with Sevilla at season’s end, declining their offer to stay on. Since then, he’s been linked to clubs across MLS, the Saudi Pro League, and Serie A, yet he has not confirmed his next destination.
While Ramos has been staying in Madrid and sharing his fitness workouts on social media, rumors around Boca Juniors continue to build. Reports from Relevo indicate that the 180-cap Spain international has already held several discussions with Riquelme, hinting that the deal could soon materialize.
If the transfer is completed, Ramos would be ready to suit up for Boca’s new season starting in February. The former Real Madrid star once joked in an interview about the possibility of playing for an Argentine club, adding humorously that he’d likely receive a red card in every match—a comment not far from reality, given his career tally of 29 red cards.
For now, Boca Juniors seems the likeliest landing spot for the veteran defender as he considers one last chapter in his illustrious career.
