In a powerful display of national pride, reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has broken the Guinness World Record for the most makeovers in 24 hours, a feat she deliberately staged in Lagos to champion Nigeria’s creative spirit.
The record-breaking attempt, which saw Tacha and her team complete 115 makeovers in just 12 hours—surpassing the previous record of 113—was the centerpiece of her Tacha Beauty Festival. While international brands had offered sponsorship to host the event in London, Tacha revealed she turned them down, believing the true “vibe” she needed was at home.
“London won’t give me the vibe I want,” Tacha shared in a conversation with influencer Egungun at the festival. “It always makes sense to carry your country along.”
More than just a personal achievement, the marathon was a deeply personal mission. Tacha dedicated the relentless 24-hour effort to her late mother, whose influence fuels her passion. Despite brief power outages, the team’s efficiency never wavered, a testament to two years of meticulous planning and a vision to showcase Nigerian resilience on a global stage.
“At this point now, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map,” an excited Tacha declared. Her triumphant record is more than a certificate; it is a bold statement of confidence in Nigeria’s untapped talent, proving that world-class achievements can and will shine from its shores.
