Reality Star Accuses Clergy of “Gaslighting” in Heated Social Media Clash
Former Big Brother Naija star Tacha has publicly criticized prominent pastor Paul Adefarasin after he labeled the content creator behind a viral video of him driving in Lagos as “aggressive.” The fiery exchange has sparked debate online, with Tacha accusing Nigerian religious leaders of hypocrisy and double standards.
Adefarasin, senior pastor of House on the Rock Church, addressed the controversy during a Sunday sermon, denying claims that he brandished a firearm during the encounter. “These allegations are false, malicious, and designed for clickbait,” he stated, calling the incident a “character assassination.” He emphasized that he has never owned or used a gun, framing the videographer as intrusive for filming him on his Sabbath day.
But Tacha fired back on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), accusing the pastor of “gaslighting” and shielding himself from accountability. “If this were Seyi Tinubu or Wike’s son, 𝕏 would’ve exploded,” she argued, suggesting that influential figures often evade scrutiny. Her post ignited reactions, with some users supporting her call for fairness, while others defended Adefarasin’s right to privacy.
The clash highlights growing tensions between public figures and citizen journalists in Nigeria’s digital age—where viral moments can quickly spiral into national debates. As opinions continue to divide, one question lingers: Should personal space override public accountability, or does influence demand greater transparency?
