A gruesome discovery in a Hollywood impound lot has been identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, a girl who had been missing for over a year. The severely decomposed body was found last week in the trunk of a Tesla registered to rising rap star D4vd, sending shockwaves through the community and the music industry.
The investigation began when workers and neighbors at a tow yard near the famed Hollywood Hills reported a powerful, foul smell. Upon arriving, Los Angeles police officers made a horrifying find: a body, described in multiple reports as dismembered and wrapped in plastic, inside the car’s front trunk, or “frunk.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity, bringing a tragic end to the search for Celeste, who was just 13 years old when she vanished from Lake Elsinore in April 2024.
According to reports from entertainment outlet TMZ, the car had been parked in the upscale Hollywood Hills neighborhood for nearly a month before being towed. The vehicle is registered to David Anthony Burke, the legal name of the 20-year-old singer known for his viral hit “Romantic Homicide.” TMZ also reported that the car had never been reported stolen.
A representative for D4vd stated that the artist has been informed of the discovery and is “fully cooperating with investigators.” The singer has continued his world tour in the wake of the discovery and is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles this weekend.
The case has taken a deeply personal turn; TMZ reported that they spoke to Celeste’s mother, who mentioned her daughter had a boyfriend named David. The grim discovery was made just a short distance from Elon Musk’s new Tesla Diner, a stark contrast to the dark scene unfolding nearby.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to a teenage girl’s body being left for an “extended period of time” in the vehicle of a rising music star.
