Erik ten Hag has made a call to Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili with Man Utd looking to sign another stopper, according to reports.
The Dutchman held his first press conference as the new permanent Red Devils boss this week as he officially took over the squad after interim boss Ralf Rangnick was in the dugout for their final match of the season against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Ten Hag was watching on as Man Utd lost 1-0 at Selhurst Park with the Red Devils finishing sixth and playing Europa League football next season.
There has been speculation that Ten Hag will be given between £100m and £150m for new players this summer after a report dismissed Rangnick’s suggestions that there could be as many as ten new signings.
It has been mooted that Dean Henderson could leave Man Utd this summer over lack of game time with the England international playing just three times in all competitions this season.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Newcastle and now Spanish publication AS (via Sport Witness) insists that Man Utd could bring in Valencia goalkeeper Mamardashvili as their number two to David de Gea, increasing the likelihood that Henderson would leave.
AS has described it as a ‘great season’ for Mamardashvili who kept eight clean sheets in 18 La Liga appearances for Valencia this term with Los Ches now attempting to renew his contract.
The Georgia international is an ‘object of desire’ for new Man Utd boss Ten Hag, who is said to have made a call to the 21-year-old in attempt to find out his ‘financial conditions’ at the La Liga side.
And Man Utd are looking to land the goalkeeper at an ‘affordable price’ with his release clause currently standing at €20m, although that would rise to €30m if Valencia successfully negotiated a contract renewal.
And the report adds that an offer of €15m for Mamardashvili is likely to be accepted by Valencia as the club ‘need liquidity’ this summer to balance the books.
