Tensions Rise at Man United as Rashford and Amorim Stop Speaking

Forward’s Future Uncertain Amid Rift with Manager

Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United remains in limbo as reports claim he and manager Ruben Amorim are no longer on speaking terms. The once-crucial forward has found himself sidelined, fueling speculation of an imminent departure.

Rashford was left out of United’s squad for their 2-1 victory over Manchester City in December and has only been included in one matchday squad since. The 26-year-old later revealed he was open to a “new challenge” if the opportunity arose in the January transfer window.

However, moving away from Old Trafford has proven difficult due to his hefty £315,000-a-week wages. While clubs like Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and several Premier League sides have shown interest, no deal has materialized.

Amorim initially cited “selection” reasons for Rashford’s absence but recently took a firmer stance. Following United’s 1-0 win over Fulham, the Portuguese coach stated he would rather put goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital in the squad than include a player who doesn’t give his best.

“If you do the maximum, if you do the right things – we can use every player. But I prefer it this way. I will put Vital [on the bench] before I put a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day,” Amorim remarked.

According to The Guardian, the relationship between the manager and Rashford has deteriorated to the point that Amorim only addresses the player when speaking to the squad as a whole. Meanwhile, Rashford is reportedly holding out for a move to Barcelona, though the Catalan giants must offload players before making an approach.

The Daily Mail reports that Borussia Dortmund has presented the most attractive offer, while Tottenham, West Ham, Juventus, Napoli, and Galatasaray are also keeping tabs on the situation. Arsenal, however, has ruled itself out of the race.

With the transfer window closing soon, Rashford faces a tough decision: wait for Barcelona or accept another club’s offer. If no move materializes, he could endure four challenging months at United, trying to regain Amorim’s trust and revive his career at his boyhood club.
