Thierry Henry Expresses Concern Over PSG’s Struggles After Mbappe’s Departure

French Legend Believes Paris Saint-Germain Have Lost Their “Magic” Following Star’s Exit

France football icon Thierry Henry has voiced his concerns over Paris Saint-Germain’s recent form, citing the departure of star forward Kylian Mbappe as a key factor in the club’s struggles. Despite a strong start to the season, PSG have hit a rough patch, winning only two of their last six matches across all competitions.

Initially, PSG appeared to thrive in the post-Mbappe era with dominant victories against teams like Le Havre, Montpellier, Lille, Brest, and Girona. Rising stars Bradley Barcola and Joao Neves quickly stepped up, filling the void and earning praise for their performances. However, the team’s momentum has faltered in recent weeks.

PSG’s recent slump includes a disappointing Champions League performance, where they were outclassed by Arsenal on October 1 and held to a 1-1 draw against PSV Eindhoven. Despite creating late chances in the PSV match, the Parisians once again fell short of victory.

Henry, speaking as a pundit for CBS, attributed the dip in form to the absence of Mbappe’s match-winning presence. “You’ve lost a bit of magic, even though the team seems a little bit more solid in terms of balance. Obviously, it isn’t good enough,” the former Arsenal star stated.

While Henry acknowledged PSG’s efforts to build a younger squad, he warned that relying too heavily on youth without seasoned players to guide them could prove problematic. “They have decided to go towards youth, but when you go towards youth, you can’t go full young too early. You need to have a couple of guys that can be around [them].”

Henry also highlighted that, despite a more balanced squad under manager Luis Enrique, the lack of a standout match-winner like Mbappe is evident. “Yes, the team is more well-balanced, you can see there is an idea when they approach the other team, but in and around the box, apart from Bradley Barcola, who was trying to do something, we didn’t see much.”

As PSG look to bounce back, the absence of their former talisman continues to loom large.
