Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss set to lead the Three Lions.
Thomas Tuchel has reportedly agreed to become the new manager of the England national football team, according to multiple sources. The 51-year-old German coach, who led Chelsea to UEFA Champions League triumph in the 2020/21 season, has allegedly accepted an offer from the Football Association (FA) after discussions that began in July.
Tuchel, who recently left Bayern Munich after a second-place Bundesliga finish, will take over from interim coach Lee Carsley, who has been in charge since Gareth Southgate’s resignation following England’s loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
Tuchel’s close relationship with England captain Harry Kane, whom he managed during his time at Bayern, is seen as a key factor in the appointment.
The FA had reportedly considered other high-profile names, including Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Newcastle’s Eddie Howe, but Tuchel emerged as the favored candidate due to his proven track record, including his UEFA Coach of the Year award and multiple league titles with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
His official appointment is expected soon, as the Three Lions prepare for future international competitions under new leadership.
